• AP: Washington Lawmakers Consider De-criminalizing Minor Purchases at Cannabis Stores

    Concerned about the stigma of criminal penalties  on minors attempting to purchase what has now become legal in that state, Washington lawmakers have introduced a bill downgrading attempts to purchase from a criminal penalty to a civil infraction. The bill has support from Representative Chris Hurst, often considered a “tough on crime” legislator, given his previous insistence on vigilantly detecting and punishing previous illegal tax-evading behavior by medical cannabis operators applying for licenses in the new state-legal system.
